Teen Toyota Video Challenge 2015
The challenge is simply this; create a commercial about safe driving or the do's and don't's of driving.
We made our's with the idea that everyone has a choice in what they do and how one simple choice can have very different reactions. The plot of our commercial is that two sisters, Vivian and Lily, go out to pick up another friend, Kenna, and then go shopping. They're driving and come to a turn, where the driver (Lily) decides to continue driving while texting rather than letting the passenger do it. The passenger (Vivian) would just text Kenna herself but has a new phone and didn't get a chance to put in all of her old contacts. This results in a crash, the "watch out" had to be a voice over because I was having a difficult time screaming it convincingly. It doesn't sound convincing with the voice over, we were planning on having screeching, the sound of crashing, as well as sirens but ended up not having time to gather those sounds. After the crash it begins to rewind, this is to go back to the other outcome that could have happened. This time rather than continue texting, the Lily hands the phone to Vivian and they arrive safely. It finishes with the question, what will you decide? It's truly up to you. We decided not to use both of our names for the characters name because they're so close to each other that many people will confuse them and we didn't want that. I'm not sure why we used my name for the friend's we were going to, it just happened that way. There are a few thing's we would do differently. Before we were planning on having at least two days set for filming, but that got cut back to one. The only problem with that was then we were pressed for time and the people who were filming for us were getting annoyed. We decided for next year when we (hopefully) do this challenge again, we will ask friends to be the actors/actresses for us. That way we can focus on filming and make sure we get what we want. It will also help with setting dates and times for filming and when we need everything to be done. Also, if we use special effects make-up like we did in this one, I found it was easier to do on other people rather than myself meaning it would look better. I learned that when filming make sure to always look at what you just filmed after filming it, to make sure you're getting what you want. I noticed in a few of the videos I was looking at possibly using we couldn't because it was too zoomed out and showed that there was no crash, or it was shaking a bunch, cut off our heads, or some other thing happened. |
Special Effects Makeup (Feb. 2015)
Deca Ad- Skittles (2013-2014)
While working on our next unit, Typography, our teacher decided to show us examples of how we would need or could need this in the "real world".
A few of the contrasting properties we learned about were: Size, Color, Form, Structure, Direction, and Weight.
I used Weight by making one bolder, or thicker, than the other. I also used Structure which was contrasting mono-weight with thin-thick transitions. It is also an example of Form, because one is all capitals and the other is lowercase.
The picture was taken by Kara, so all credit goes to her, but this was done in Photoshop by me.

Blender Rocket ship and Snake (2013-2014)
This is a Rocket ship made in the program Blender. First we were to watch the videos and do a practice with a snake (Picture below) and then we were to go out and make our own rocket ship. I decided to make a basic or stereotypical one with a window, leaving Earth with stars and the moon in the background. To add something to it and to make the window stand out more, I made it rainbow. I couldn't decide on just one color.
Hobby Documentary (2013-2014)
This would be my Hobby Documentary video, my hobby is media, better known as Art. The interview was actually filmed by Kaylee, there was mix-up when I was crediting it. Otherwise all photography and video is filmed or photographed by myself. You'll notice that I placed two eye drawings in there right after each other, they were drawn only four days apart. By doing this I hoped the viewer would realize how much I was able to improve on the same drawing in a small amount of time. I also tried to put in a variety of what I draw/paint, but I had so many (that I wished to show) that I ran out of time before fitting them all in. This video was supposed to explain what my hobby was, give us a chance to practice filming, photography, and editing, but also be only, at the most, two minutes long.
I'd like to say that this is the first picture I've edited in Photoshop, but it is actually maybe the tenth or so. This is a bunch of rocks my Photography Group and I had found in a cement bowl outside of our Gym. We took a picture of it and in Photoshop I first turned it black and white and then went over putting in the color of the rocks and green moss. The only thing was that I realized it looked a lot better in color than black/white, so it is all color I just turned down different colors (red, yellow, greens, blue, etc.) The credit to who took the photo goes to Kaylee.
This is a light exposure shot, the credit to who was behind the camera goes to Cam. I was behind the flashlight creating the double-heart that you see.
