This is another bowl I made that isn't as big as the last one I posted, it's more of a medium size. For the glaze, I did roughly the same thing as last time. I picked a few colors I thought would go nicely together and then put white as a base coat and a little over so that it would run and mix together. The colors are a blue and a dream green. I really like how this one turned out as well. The color is a very light color so it isn't too powerful persay. It's more subtle and nice. It mixed at the bottom to create this almost clear blue water look. The bowl instead is like a bowl within a bowl. The way it's set up makes it almost as if you could put sauce in the middle (the bowl in the middle) and then it has almost a shelf around that maybe you put chips or something on. It isn't a very prominent shelf and you can't really see it when you first look at it, but it is there.
Originally this bowl was going to become a pedestal bowl but I really liked how it turned out so I footed it and kept it like that. I glazed it with a shadow green color and a blue, both of these colors were over white so that it would run and mix a little. I really like how it turned out, I think the colors went well together and look nice. There is a little "lip" to it persay, the bowl has a shape where it widens at the top. I don't usually do that to my bowls because they break, but I was able to this time and I really like it. It seems to give it more of a shape, more figure to it. Again, I really like how the foot ring came out. That was part of the reason why it didn't get turned into a pedestal bowl, I really liked how it was footed. Originally when I made it this, it was for my set of three. I was planning on making a small vase, medium vase, and then a bigger vase. Unfortunately, I threw the baby vase off center and then didn't just leave it alone when I should have. So, the top part got cut off and this is what I was left with. I still thought it was kind of cute though and wanted to keep it. I thought I was glazing it with a rock color but it turned out to be a blue, the blue is a nice color though. I know it's little but I think I might be able to put little daisies in it, if I wanted. This is another bowl I made. It is glazed to be like a pop of color. The bowl is black with strips of color on both sides. The color looks more red than I thought and then there is also purple. I think I am getting better at pulling up and making projects that are a little more centered. I also am really liking how the foot rings are turning out. My projects seem to be getting a bigger and wider, not as small as they used to be which is really great. Above are pictures of my two plates, I decided to glaze them basically the same with the only difference being one is with white and the other with black. I think to some extent it could be seen as a yin-yang, not in the shape but in the colors maybe. Usually I'm not able to but this time I was able to foot the plates. I really like how these turned out. Unfortunately, on the bottom something happened and it got glaze on the bottom. Maybe from another project or something, but the grinder can be used to get rid of it. It isn't super noticeable since it's on the bottom. I actually really like how these plates turned out, I think they're some of the better ones I've done. I really want to start doing something more with the glazing though, something a little more complex than just spirals.
This is a bowl I made at the end of last quarter. I choose to do it a little more than half colored black and then with Polka dots. The polka dots are pink, blue/purple, yellow and then black. I'm not sure why I choose to do this but I liked the idea of it having this, I guess almost a "fun side". It was something a little different from what I usually make. I'm actually really liking how a lot of the foot rings I'm making are turning out. It really helps to use a pin tool to mark out where you want to go too. I think this bowl is actually evenly pulled up. I also think that my bowls are slowly getting bigger, I'm able to pull up more clay and actually trimming the base nicer.
