I really wanted to try and make another big bowl. This is off-center though and doesn't have all that great of a foot. But for being one of the first bigger bowls I've made, it's alright. I tried the blue and white color differences again and it worked A LOT better this time. Below is another picture with a filter that helps show the different colors, or rather how many there are. The glaze did end up running a lot though so it did stick to the shelf.
This is one of the first big bowls I attempted to make. It isn't very big but it's a start. When I was footing it, I guess it wasn't completely dry/ready to be foot so that made it off-center more. I glazed 'oops' on it because it kind of turned out to be an 'oops' bowl. This idea was inspired by Faith, although she just wrote 'oops' on the bottom, I decided to write it on the actual bowl to kind of remind myself that not all my projects will turn out 'perfect' but that I am learning and improving my skills... little by little. I forgot I had this bowl, it's nicely done though. Although it is small, it's not off-center and has a uniform thickness. I was trying to make some color variation on it though, which didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. I saw this amazing vase where it had different shades of blue as well as some white. There was a little bit of color difference, but not much. I didn't really make these two plates a set or glaze them the same but decided to put both in one post.
They're both the same size. The first one is painted black and purple strips. I think it shows a contrast between the design and general shape of a plate. The second plate was just painted white and blue, only the white didn't show up as much. This is a very small bowl I made from seamix. It's so small because this was the first time I used seamix and heard it was supposed to be very hard to use. I made this for my Momma. When looking through my old baby stuff, she pointed out a small plate about the size of an outlet covering that I made in 2005. It was painted pink, underneath it was white. I decided, 10 years later, in 2015 to make another. She really liked it and kept, basically, petting it for lack of better words. She said "it's so smooth!". I guess the other one from 2005 was very sharp and rough around the edges. |
