We were assigned with painting a still-life that was personal, we chose items that represent our outer self, inner self, and then a vessel. My outer self is the dog, inner is the tigger, and the vessel is the blue vase. The dog was supposed to show the compassionate, loyal, sometimes timidness side of me, the side that most people know. The tigger was supposed to show the more loud, energetic side of me that not many know. I used brown, orange, white, gray, and blue for this painting. I really like how the tigger turned out, but I wish I could have made the yellow detailing on the dog look more gold.
The skill I used for this one is proportion and scale. I'm still working on that. I was shown to started off by making the general shape and then fill in more details.
The element or principal of design I used for this painting would be value. I had to use a lot of value in the background to try and make it look like creases.
I think what makes this interesting to look at is that not everyone will understand this. If they understand that it's supposed to representative of something, it'd be interesting to try to figure out what.
