As of right now, I have yet to make a successful vase. The ones I do make are so small and will shrink once fired, or they end up cracking from being so thin.
I get the general idea of how to make a vase, I just need to work on making a big vase. Each I make is tiny, and could be considered a small cup. Sure, I could keep them and use them as a cup or put a single flower in them but as said before, they'll shrink.
Today (Feb.4), I worked on footing my other bowl I made and once I finished a very quick and not perfect in any way foot, I tried to start on either another bowl or vase.
I'm not sure what was happening, but for whatever reason I was having trouble bringing up the sides, and then on another project my center wasn't flat. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it was like a spiral staircase just without the stairs. I think I was having the wheel move too fast and for whatever reason couldn't control it today, I got distracted, and then had to start over. I should be careful to not get distracted because its quite easy for a simple, small mistake to ruin the entire project.
Since I'm considering the bowl I have now to be my first bowl, I'll be working strictly on creating my tall project (vase). Unless what I'm making ends up looking more like a bowl than anything. I think, if I create something small I might keep it for a pencil holder or something like that, I can work my way up to having a very tall one.
As of Feb. 6, I'll be working on creating a new bowl and will have to come back to the vase once I finish that. I'll probably begin the vase either Monday or Tuesday.
