For the end of third quarter to the beginning of the fourth quarter, we're working on Frankenpots. Usually the teams are groups of three and each makes a vase which is then connected together. For this one, Faith and I were a team. It was really cool because we actually had the same idea to make our Frankenpot look like a Frankenstein, the movie version.
She made the base as well as the middle part and I made the head. Which I was making the head and trying to round it more to make it seem more like a head, she connected the two pieces she made. While she was working on connecting the head to the rest of the body, I made the nose, eyes, and the scar by the hands as well as the hair. Faith and I both did some of the design on the hair as well as finishing connecting. Faith made the hands, which actually have little fingernails on them as well as the scar beside the eyes.
I can't wait until we start painting it, I think, as of right now, it looks great and I think it'll look amazing once we paint it. There's a few things I think I could have done differently though. I should have made the head a little bigger so that we could have a mouth on it and maybe eyebrows.

Today, April 15th, we finished painting our Frankenpot and it is now waiting to be fired. I really love this project and if I had the time to make another or could clone it, I would so I could take one home with me.
The colors we are using are:
Some people suggested red for the eyes, but we didn't really want our Frankenstein to look evil. Considering what we read from the book by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein doesn't really seem to be evil. We added the yellow and green because that was what his skin was described as. Usually it's pictured as green but it's actually just a skin tone color which is why we picked Italian Straw. But, it was still say to have a yellow tint which is why we added the yellow. The green was added in to make him look a little more sickish, I made sure to add those colors around the cuts because when I think cuts I think of bruising or yellow/green colors around it. We picked Scrap Black for the inside because we felt it would have a nice contrast with the Italian Straw. If the red and green come out nicely, which we hope they will, it'll help with the complimentary aspect of it. (Red and Green are compliments). We were going to use blue but it was really watered down which made it run a lot, plus it was thought that blue eyes might make it too cute and we didn't want that either.
