The next project I'm working on is a giant teacup for my sister, basically a bowl with a handle. I've been meaning to create another cup, one that is bigger and has a better handle than the first tea cup I made.
I was planning on giving the first teacup I made to my sister, but I didn't like how the design turned out since the color ran off. Also, the handle was a little off. I think that I made it wrong, or not how you would for this type of project.
I finished making the bowl, or the cup for the teacup, today Feb. 18th. Tomorrow I'm going to foot it and add the handle as well as an imprint for the design. Unless I decide to paint it one color or write a quote on it.
I have many ideas for this but still haven't decided on one. My mom said that I should write "meow" on it because she saws that all the time. I thought about writing "You are such a perfect little arrangement of atoms!". I told her this once, then she asked me to explained what an atom was, she liked it after she understood it. But, I know that her favorite color is blue, so I could just paint the entire thing blue and that way I wouldn't have to worry about the design running or it not turning out how I wanted it too. The only thing with that though, is that it's so impersonal. I think that I am going to write "meow" on it and make a small cat picture like this one:

Before I put the design on or do anything else I footed it and I have to say... this is probably the best foot I have done so far. It probably helped that I spent majority of the class period working on it.
For the design, I picked a font I wanted for the "meow", then made it a very big size, and printed it out. I also printed out the picture of the kitty but didn't end up drawing that on there. It would have been cuter if I had made the bowl a little bigger like I was planning too. Then I could have meow above and the kitty below, but it was smaller than expected. When I was putting the "meow" on, I curved it down a lot. It was suggested that on the other side, I curve it upwards so it is like a fluid motion, or a wave. I ended up doing that and actually really like how it looks. I still have to finish carving out the letters, this is just them outlined so I know the shape. I also still have the handle to make tomorrow.
This is the teacup before being fired after it was painted. The main color is pink, black lettering, and clear on the inside.
